First of all, welcome to Kiruna and AIF!
A couple of weeks ago your teammate Ricards Bernhards signed with AIF, now it’s your turn to move to Sweden. What made AIF the team of your choice?
After a couple seasons in Latvia I decided to start looking for some options to play hockey out of Latvia because I want to develop as a hockey player and get some great experience. My agent gave me a couple offers but AIF was the most interesting for me. A good thing is that I know Ricards Bernhards very well, we played together a couple of years, even in same line, so I’m happy to have another season with him in same team!
No, it was something new for me. When my agent told me that I had a chance to move to Kiruna next season I got very interested in the place and found a lot of things on the internet. My first impressions were very positive and I’m looking forward to be there as soon as possible.
How would you describe yourself as a hockey player?
I’m more of a playmaker than a goal scorrer. I like to set up good plays for my linemates/teammates to score a goal. Also I’m a professional on-ice and off-ice so I think I have a good attitude for the work.
When are you expected to arrive in Kiruna?
I’m travelling together with Ricards right now and we’ll actually arrive in Kiruna today.
Thanks for your time, we are looking forward to see you in the black and yellow dress this winter!
